Dermott District Park Natural Playground
LOCATION
Edmonton, Alberta
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project is more than just a playground – it depicts the destructive and renewing forces of nature. Based on Edmonton’s 1915 flood, the story begins with the Alpine Headwaters, an accessible hill slide and log climber, that leads to River Washout and Humberstone Towers.
The multi-story towers feature a 2.7 metre slide and are inspired by the historic Humberstone Coal Mines that played a big part in shaping the Edmonton river valley much as the flood did when the river washed it all away.
Every project begins with research and consultations to provide clients and users with playful place-making opportunities.
